Shoot First, Focus Later???

This company called Lytro is introducing a camera that you shoot a photo and later, you can focus at any point in the image! Click anywhere in the image above to change the focal point. They've achieved this by utilizing the "light field" data. The camera will not be available until 2012, but click here to read the NYTimes blog post about it.

I Did a Costume Test Photo Shoot for this Movie

A few years ago I was called into a suite at the London Hotel here in NYC to shoot costume tests on the famous Bollywood actor, Shah Rukh Khan. It was all top secret, I set up a seamless paper and my lights in the middle of the suite and put some good, loud "photo shoot" music on as Indian food from a place on Lexington Avenue was brought in, Shah Rukh entered with his entourage and I photographed him in a prototype of this super hero suit that you see in the trailer. He was a super nice guy. And it was my first time eating a delicious dish called butter chicken.

Book Cover Photograph: "Enacting History"

A few years ago while I was shooting a photo series about historical re-enactments I stumbled across a book called Living History Museums - Undoing History Through Performance by Scott Magelssen. It became an invaluable resource for my project and I reached out to Scott for more of his writings. We connected and shared our work with each other and this past spring I was honored to have an image from my project used as the cover of his new book of essays, Enacting History, that he edited with Rhona Justice-MAlloy.
