Gizmodo's Shooting Challenge: HDR
I've been intrigued by the idea of HDR (high dynamic range) photographs for a long time. It's always seemed like something that should be so much easier for a camera to be able to see more like the human eye when looking at a scene with a bright sky and shadows with details, but usually it's a sacrifice of one for the other. While HDR has it's limits as well (having to shoot on a tripod for one) it's ability to create unbelievable images is really cool. Check out Gizmodo's HDR Shooting Challenge, while some of the images are too "pretty", it's great to learn what people are shooting with and how they put their images together. I'm excited to try out the Photomatix software AND the idea of using a RAW file as 3 separate images to recombine was an entirely new concept to me!
