Following on the heels of his first book of styling tips for men, Looking Good, Charles Hix published Dressing Right in 1978. This illustrated how to guide for men looking to wardrobe themselves well includes such chapter titles as Feeling Good, Shopping Around and Formalizing Yourself. The photography is a great look at men's fashion of that time and an even better record of the different ideals of male models then compared to today. Shot by several photographers early in their career, it's awesome to see the beginnings of the signature styles we have come to recognize by two of the best fashion photographers of the last 25 years, Herb Ritts and Bruce Weber. Look for the golden retriever snuggled up next to a guy and you will suddenly see the spark in the man's eyes and glow of his cheek that is the epitome of a Weber image.
